Sourav Ganguly Profile - History



      One of the best all rounder of  Indian Cricket team no one other than Sourav Chandidas. Ganguly has born on July 8th 1972 at the eminent district of Kolkata. He showered his talent in all the matches by partaken in the teams like India cricket team, Bengal, Glamorgan, and Lancashire. His original name is Sourav Chandidas Ganguly. 

     In his very childhood itself he starts his playing in cricket. As he grows and grows his intuition tempt to involve more in cricket with full passion. This inspiration, to play cricket, came in by his elder brother Snehashish, who played for the Bengal cricket team. Fascinatingly, he started to bat with his left hand that makes him as the left hand batsman in the international matches. While studying at the school, he has served as the captain for St. Xavier’s School.

     The batting mode of Sourav Ganguly is left handed batsman and also he is thee well renowned right arm medium bowler. In 1990 as the youngster, he has played in the cricket match for the Ranji Trophy. His excellent first debut in One Day International match held in the year of1992, which played against the outstanding team West Indies. Unfortunately, he loss his wicket when he has scored just three runs. 


     Again he got the chance to play in the international matches during the years 1993 and 1995. In that, he endeavor to score and also obtained 171 runs in the innings. This score has achieved by him in the tournament of Duleep Trophy. With that he pursue in international cricket team from the year 1996.   

     The test debut for Ganguly is held in the ground of Lord that he secured a century and exactly got 131 runs. This ground first time saw such the highest score in test matches. Appropriately, ha has faced 113 test matches in his career by obtaining the score more than seven thousands, which comprises sixteen centuries and thirty five half centuries.  In test cricket match, Ganguly has acquired the highest score of 239! His overall batting average is 42.17 runs.

     Next we can make our vision on the One Day International Cricket that has played by veteran cricket player Ganguly. He has enormously faced 311 ODI’s. On the other view, he has scored more than eleven thousands of runs, which comprising of twenty two centuries and seventy two half centuries. The record says he has committed 1122 fours and one hundred and ninety sixes and the overall average in his One Day International is 41.02 runs.    

     Sourav Ganguly has named under the list of Best Captains both in One Day International and test matches. He has sworn the captainship after hearing so many slanders in the year of 2000. Under his lead Indian team has secured lots and lots of victories. The best aspiration he made in the hearts of the cricket fans that India has entered into the final match of World Cup Cricket 2003, unfortunately, India loss the match. He has guided the Indian test cricket team under his captainship for forty nine matches out of it India won twenty one matches.  

     On the other hand, he has also kept the posting of captainship for 146 One Day International matches. Out the 146 matches, Indian cricket team has won 76 matches. He has selected as the Captain of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders and also played for the Rajasthan Royals.


     Ganguly has played his last test cricket match in the year 2008 and match against Australia. In that last match he has scored eighty five runs after that he retired from test matches. at the same, he retired from One Day International cricket matches that held on 15th November of 2007 and facing against the team Pakistan where he scored five runs. Ganguly has received the prestigious “Padma Shri” award in 2004.
