Roger Federer Personal History:

     Roger Federer holds both Swiss and South African Citizenships. He grew up in suburban Munchenstein, near Basel which was close to French and German borders.  The languages spoken by him are German, French and English. But the native speech is Swiss German. He was a Roman Catholic and he met Pope Benedict XVI while playing the 2006 Internationali BNL italia tournament in Rome. Federer was forced to military service in the Swiss Armed Forces. However in 2003 he was unfit due to long back pain problem and not fulfill his military obligation. He also played badminton and basketball old days. Federer supports a number of charities. He established the Foundation of Roger Federer in 2003 to help disability people and to promote sports.
